Sink or Swim School, located in the Summerville and Hanahan area, specializes in teaching children of all age’s essential survival swimming skills. Our primary focus is drowning prevention, ensuring that every child learns to swim safely and confidently. We emphasize breath control, water safety, and self-rescue techniques to equip swimmers with the skills they need to protect themselves in the water. Additionally, we provide training for students preparing for swim teams. Our experienced and passionate staff enjoys working with swimmers of all ages and skill levels.

Sink or Swim School welcomes children as young as 6 months for swim lessons. We recommend that infants reach the milestone of crawling before beginning lessons, with 8–10 months being a common starting age.

Stranger anxiety and separation anxiety are natural when experiencing something new. To help ease this transition, we provide toys, cookies, and plenty of BIG smiles to comfort our students. Our approach focuses on small, gradual steps toward building confidence. If a child needs extra time to adjust, we patiently work at their pace to ensure they feel comfortable while learning these essential skills.

We have a strict NO REFUND policy; however, we do offer lesson credits if you provide at least five days’ notice before your scheduled lesson. These credits can be used at any time for future lessons.

  • No-Shows: If you miss a lesson without prior notice, it will be counted as part of your lesson package. If you did not purchase a package and are a no-show, no credits will be issued.
  • Pool Parties: Lesson credits cannot be applied toward pool parties.
  • Rescheduling & Credits: A minimum five-day notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson and receive a full credit for future use. If you cancel with less than five days’ notice, you will receive a 50% credit of your lesson fee.
  • Self-Service Scheduling: When viewing your schedule in the portal, lessons at least five days away will have a cancel button available. You may remove and reschedule these lessons as needed.

Thank you for your understanding!

Infants & Toddlers (ROOKIE): We require at least three lessons per week, with the option to attend more. Most young students typically need 30–40 lessons to develop essential swimming skills.

Students 4 & Older (BIG ROOKIE): We recommend 2–3 lessons per week. Many students complete the program in 15–20 lessons, though those with no prior experience may require additional time.

Sink or Swim School has experience working with students of all abilities. If you have any questions about choosing the best program for your child with special needs, please contact our staff—we’re happy to help!

Drowning prevention is priceless, and the peace of mind it brings is invaluable. Swimming is not a one-time program—we recommend refresher lessons every 4–6 months to maintain skills.

For students with zero swimming experience, the initial program typically requires a minimum investment of $900. Most ROOKIE students need at least 30–40 lessons, while refresher courses can be as few as 6–9 lessons.

We offer a 10% discount on swim lessons for each additional child enrolled after the first.

A 10% military discount is also available for immediate family members. To qualify, proof of military service must be submitted to admin@sinkorswimsc.com.

Please note: Only one discount can be applied per enrollment. Military and sibling discounts do not apply to lesson packages, as they are already discounted.
