Sink or Swim School Programs

What We Teach

Our swimming programs focus on drowning prevention. All students will learn survival swimming skills along with swimming skills. Breath Control is priority #1 before any other skills. All students will learn how to rest and float on their back. Students over 15 months will also learn swim-float-swim.

A sequence would be:

  1. Proper breath control as the student goes under water
  2. Kicks to a swim
  3. Rotation to a float
  4. Breath Control on a float (improper BC will result in submersion)
  5. Flip-over back to a swim 6. Continue to swim and repeat sequence to the side of a pool for safe exit or rest and hold a float until help arrives.

We have students perform all of these skills fully clothed and in winter gear and time for a 2 minute rest and float. That is almost how long it takes for a parent to change a load of laundry or if a child not properly trained drown and not survive the fall into the water.
